Jason Brooks, Jonathan Conrad, Kelsee Dyess, Kimberly Drabek, Tonya Keener, Kara Kolibas, and Alexandra Regens were each awarded $500 in scholarship money to apply to the college or university of their choice. This is the fifth year OSA has awarded the scholarship based on applications filed by the students. The applications are reviewed by panel of OSA members representing each of the seven countries.
Jason Brooks will attend the University of Memphis this fall on a soccer scholarship. A player on the Tulsa Nationals and TSC for eight years, Jason plans on using soccer to continue his education and excel in the classroom. A Broken Arrow graduate, he carried a 3.5 GPA throughout his high school years.
Jonathan Conrad graduated from Enid High School with a 4.1 GPA and played his club soccer with Enid. He will attend the University of Texas at Dallas this fall and play collegiate soccer with the school. "For as long as I can remember soccer has been an integral part of my life," says Conrad.
Kelsee Dyess will attend the University of Central Oklahoma this fall after playing club soccer with Hurricane and Broken Arrow High School. A 3.6 GPA student, Kelsee had a double major in journalism and advertising in high school. Her plans include continuing to play soccer throughout her life.
Kimberly Drabek from Yukon played soccer for Illusions and the Blue Mafia during her high school days and maintained a 4.6 GPA for four years. Kimberly will attend the University of Oklahoma this fall and continuing refereeing soccer while she pursues her degree.
Tonya Keener from Tulsa attended Jenks High School and carried a 4.1 GPA while playing club soccer with Hurricane 90 and refereeing games. This fall she will attend Southern Methodist University in Dallas and continue her soccer and officiating. "I’ve spent a lot of time and effort within the sport of soccer and I can truthfully say it has been completely worthwhile," says Tonya.
Kara Kolibas will be in Norman this fall attending the University of Oklahoma after graduating from Bixby High School with a 4.0 GPA. Kara played club soccer with Blitz United 90 Red and Tulsa Highlanders as well as her Bixby varsity squad. She plans on becoming an orthodontist and soccer helped her with setting that goal. "In life and soccer, goals don’t come easily, they require hard work," says Kara and she plans on achieving her goals in life.
Alexandra Regens has not determined which college she will attend as a freshman, but her 3.9 GPA from Edmond North High School will allow her to select most any school she chooses. Alexandra played her club soccer with Edmond and her varsity soccer, too.
